Instructional Design

With a diverse background that includes university-level teaching, a degree in Psychology, a certificate in Training Design and Development, and experience in teaching adults and children, I bring to my instructional design projects a solid understanding of how to make courseware and other learning assets that fit into curriculum strategies, meet learning objectives, and enhance job performance. My background in graphic design and writing brings a depth and completeness to my learning projects that usually requires the work of people in several roles.

Produced for an instructional design class. I designed a course for training bank tellers to use a new credit check system. I worked through the entire course design and development cycle from Needs Assessment through evaluation, and produced milestone deliverables for each phase.

I used Visio to develop the screen flow for this course, one of several I designed, wrote, and developed for a distance learning university-level Management curriculum. My activities included working with subject matter experts and faculty who then taught the courses, library research, course design, course development, quizzes and scored test assessments.

These screen captures are from a distance learning course on conflict management I designed and wrote. The course was developed in a proprietary Learning Management System. This excerpt, constructed from scanned printed screen captures, shows an example of scenario writing and includes several approaches to interactive reviews and quizzes.

Online course for Requirements Management tool. I redesigned much of this course as part of a course revision. This included content reorganization, writing and editing, as well as designing and creating new graphics.

I designed and developed this interactive animation, one of many used in an online course for training software developers. The animation, a Flash file produced by Viewletbuilder, simulates interaction with the application interface, so that the user must click designated hotspots to progress through the simulation.
